Inclusion
Our learning resource was designed to allow students of many abilities and experiences to participate fully. However, two areas in which we especially considered inclusivity is for ELL students and those who experience colour blindness. In terms of dance instruction, it is a very visual activity that requires no specific colour use and can be taught with little words and primarily physical or audio demonstration. Furthermore, the focus on project-based learning allows for greater freedom for learners to adjust depending on their abilities. Lesson one involves students adding their favourite music to a class playlist, opening the door for ELL students to share music in their native language and creates opportunities for other students to be exposed to diverse cultures. Additionally, our interactive resource uses colours that are easily differentiable for those who experience colour blindness.
Technology
Rationale
We chose to use a variety technology in our learning resource inlcusing creating our own website for displaying the unit, videos, apps and google docs. We chose these tools carefuly in order to make the unit both engaging and acessable for students. We set up our own website to make the resource as seamless as possible for the user. The videos were chosen to promote student engagement. Apps like Padlet, Bookwidgets and Zoom were chosen to be a viable option for in person or virtual teaching to provide assessment opportunities but to create a sense of community and connection within the class.
